I got the chance to watch last weekend (05102008) the Pyro Olympics at MOA and I got amazed by the fantastic and great show. Burt some part of me got that feeling of sadness and from that night on, I have been thinking about the blind people who can see its beauty. That is why, I cam out to write this simple column below….

Fireworks: On The Eyes Of A Blind

Watching fireworks is indeed a pleasure to the eyes and a joy especially to the children.
Whenever I watched fireworks, I feel like I am being blessed by so many things. I truly appreciate the lights… the colors… and most of all the artistic way on how the fireworks are done.

Nevertheless, fireworks can only be appreciated by someone who can see how those little fires with different colors flew up high on air.

How can someone appreciate the beauty of fireworks when all that she can hear is the loud noise? The noise being made by the fireworks is like a bullet from the gun… more often than not, like a sound of a canyon. The faster the sound is the more fireworks are being thrown and the more colors and lights are being watched.

How can that person say, “It’s a fantastic fireworks show” when she had seen nothing?

How can we help the blind person appreciate the colors at night when even at daytime it is a dark world out there?

We can help… YES, we can.

A simple “WOW” with that happy and un-sarcastic emotion would relate its beauty to those who cannot see it. However, the physical color cannot be seen by their eyes. The emotion will convey to them the colors of the fireworks.

Clapping of hands full of sincerity would make them feel that the firework show had the best shot.

Let us not be afraid to show our appreciation on the beautiful things and share it to those who cannot see it.
